All tours start and return at Finca Calas, a working horse ranch and flower farm about 30 minute drive east of San Jose between the mountain villages of Ranch Redondo and Llano Grande off route 6. The horses are raised on the ranch, are well cared for and trained for different riding skill levels. You will be riding a horse match to your riding skill. Tours include an experienced guide, drinks and snack, and rainware.


Our Family Special allows four riders for the price of three for all tours.

 

 
La Rinconada Tour: Tour duration approximately 1 hour - $20.

This tour takes you through the beautiful Valle la Laguna on mountain roads. You will see views of the central valley including the cities of San Jose and Cartago, while riding past flower farms.

Valle la Laguna Tour:
Tour duration approximately 2 hours - $35

This tour takes you through the beautiful Valle la Laguna to the small mountain village of Llano Grande, riding on horse and ox cart trails, and mountain roads. You will see views of the central valley including the cities of San Jose and Cartago, while riding through lush vegetation, beautiful nature and rural mountain farms.

El Raicero Tour: Tour duration approximately 3 hours - $50

This tour takes you through the La Socola area and along the El Raicero trail to the small mountain village of Llano Grande, riding on steep horse and ox cart trails, and mountain roads. You will see magnificent views of the central valley including the cities of San Jose and Cartago while riding through mountain rain forests and farms. This excursion is for experienced riders only.

Parque de Prusia Tour: Tour duration approximately 4 hours - $60

This tour takes you through the La Socola area across the Continental Divide to Parque de Prusia returning back through the La Cañada area. You will see magnificent views of the central valley including the cities of San Jose and Cartago, the Caribbean basin and the Irazu Volcano. On this tour you will ride on horse and ox cart trails, and mountain roads passing through mountain rain forests and farms, and seeing historical points of interest.

Additional Services:

Transfers: Round trip transfer from your hotel to Finca Calas and back to your hotel for up to 4 people. Cost:
$30 from east San Jose area,
$40 from central San Jose area,
$50 from airport and west San Jose area.

Lunch: Include a typical Costa Rican lunch with your ride, served at the farm house at Finca Calas. Includes a full meal and drinks. Cost: $5 per person

Important Notice

Appropriate clothing is required for all riders. Long trousers, sturdy footware (no sandels or flip flops), and cool weather clothing. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Minimum two riders per tour. Persons under 18 years need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or have parent consent.
